Trading Portfolio Analyst

About the role

3Degrees originates, markets, sells and trades environmental commodities. As a Trading Portfolio Analyst in its Research and Analysis team, you will analyse portfolios, positions and commodity pricing to give trading desks actionable insights, build reporting and reconciliation tools, and turn complex data into clear information for portfolio managers and non-technical stakeholders. The role is full-time and on-site in Portland, ME; candidates within commuting distance of the San Francisco or New York offices are also considered. 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship or work authorization assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Weekly portfolio valuation reports and performance updates for front-office stakeholders, portfolio managers and executives
• Maintain and troubleshoot downstream Excel workbooks tracking positions and market values
• Run financial reconciliations such as trial balances, valuation stacks and exchange-to-system position matching
• Bridge communication between non-technical stakeholders, traders and risk management
• Audit workflows and pilot low-code AI tools (Copilot Studio, Glean, RPA) and Python-based automation
• Support proprietary models in Python, Excel and Power BI, and share insights with trading teams

Required profile

• 2+ years of quantitative data analysis experience
• Financial or accounting literacy, including reconciliations, trial balances or fund accounting logic
• BA/BS in economics, finance, statistics, computer science or a related quantitative field preferred
• Ability to work in person in Portland, Maine

Required skills

• Advanced Excel, including complex workbooks and reporting templates
• Python for data manipulation and scripting
• Power BI and DAX (or Tableau with willingness to move to Power BI)
• Interest in AI tools and low-code platforms; knowledge of Databricks or Microsoft Fabric is a plus
