About the role
The Trade Finance Origination Associate will act as a subject‑matter expert supporting the origination and execution of trade and working‑capital transactions for U.S. corporate borrowers. Working closely with Relationship Managers, the associate will identify opportunities, design tailored solutions and guide clients through the full sales‑to‑implementation journey.
Key responsibilities
- Market GTB trade products (receivables, supply‑chain finance, structured trade, letters of credit, EAF, etc.) to clients in the natural resources, utilities and commodities sectors.
- Prepare commercial plans, pitches and RFI responses targeting C‑suite decision‑makers, including financial‑strategy analysis and peer benchmarking.
- Provide pricing and market intelligence, ensure transaction profitability and present proposals to relevant committees.
- Report progress of the commercial agenda to senior management and maintain awareness of sector trends.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders (CDD, Compliance, Risk, Legal, IT, Operations) and external partners (law firms, insurers, brokers) to deliver seamless onboarding and execution.
- Act as the primary advisor for clients’ ongoing trade‑finance needs and serve as an escalation point.
Required profile
- Demonstrated expertise in trade finance and working‑capital solutions.
- Experience serving corporate clients in natural resources, utilities or commodities.
- Strong analytical ability to assess client financial strategies and compare with industry peers.
- Excellent client‑facing skills with a consultative, solution‑oriented approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with relationship managers and cross‑functional teams.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of trade finance products such as receivables financing, supply‑chain finance, structured trade, letters of credit and export‑against‑finance.
- Proficiency in preparing commercial proposals, pricing models and market intelligence reports.
- Stakeholder coordination and project‑management capabilities.
- Understanding of compliance, risk and legal requirements in trade transactions.
