Toddler Teacher

About the role

The Lead Teacher at the YMCA of Greater Boston provides a safe, warm, and engaging environment for toddlers, planning and implementing curriculum aligned with MA guidelines to support children’s growth and school readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize children’s safety and emotional well‑being, using positive behavior guidance.
• Supervise children, maintain classroom materials, and ensure smooth transitions.
• Assess children’s progress, plan curriculum, and communicate regularly with families.
• Collaborate with the Director and other teachers to introduce engaging, individualized activities.
• Participate in at least 20 hours of training per year and attend staff meetings and regional events.

Required profile

• Qualified as a Lead Teacher by Department of Early Education and Care standards.
• First Aid and CPR certified within six months of employment.
• Excellent skills in working with families, conflict resolution, and community relations.
• Commitment to YMCA’s mission, values, and philosophy.
