Third Assistant Engineer – Ship Engineering

About the role

The Third Assistant Engineer (post‑graduate) works under the Chief Engineer to gain comprehensive training across all engineering functions on a Disney cruise ship. This position provides hands‑on experience in machinery operation, safety procedures, and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of main and auxiliary machinery, including routine pumping and watch‑keeping duties.
• Monitor and isolate electrical and plant systems, ensuring proper protective equipment is used.
• Maintain the engine room logbook and ensure pollution prevention equipment such as oily water separators and sewage disposal plants are correctly operated.
• Support senior officers in repairs, maintenance tasks, and emergency response as outlined in the ship’s Assembly Plan.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate engineering qualification or equivalent maritime engineering training.
• Willingness to follow a structured training plan and report progress to the Chief Engineer.
• Ability to work safely in a watch‑keeping environment and respond quickly to fire or accident situations.
