Job description
About the role
Join the joint venture of Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to develop automated test systems for advanced zonal controllers and battery management ECUs. You will lead the creation of test solutions that support design validation, reliability, and high‑volume manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development of automated test solutions for zonal and BMS ECUs, from requirements to deployment in labs and contract manufacturers.
- Design and build high‑channel‑count test equipment for power switching, load emulation, and battery management functions.
- Collaborate with electronics, power electronics, and BMS design teams to define test strategies and specifications.
- Develop custom Python test sequences using AI coding agents, ensuring code quality and compliance with the automation framework.
- Integrate firmware, hardware, and software for DUT bring‑up, bootloaders, diagnostic services, and calibration routines.
- Implement fault‑injection coverage and verify ECU diagnostic responses.
- Create documentation, calibration procedures, and safe‑work protocols for high‑voltage testing.
- Lead deployment of test equipment at contract manufacturers and RVTech facilities, supporting validation, reliability, EMC, and functional safety teams.
Required profile
- BS/MS in Electrical, Electronics, or Power Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years designing automated test equipment for high‑I/O, power switching, or battery‑management products.
- Hands‑on experience with zonal/body controllers, power distribution/e‑fuse modules, motor/actuator drivers, or BMS.
- Experience in automotive, industrial power, energy storage, semiconductor, or aerospace sectors.
Required skills
- Python programming.
- Use of AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor).
- Test instrumentation: programmable DC power supplies, electronic loads, SMUs, precision DMMs, high‑channel relay matrices, oscilloscopes, current probes, AWGs, multifunction DAQ.
- Battery cell simulation/emulation equipment (Chroma, Keysight, NI/Bloomy).
- Automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN‑FD, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, SENT) and diagnostic protocols (UDS, XCP).
- Industrial buses and protocols (USB, VISA, GPIB, Ethernet, Serial, RS‑485, SPI, I2C).
