Term Instructor – Education & Developmental Psychology

About the role

The SUNY Ulster Department of Education & Developmental Psychology seeks a Term Instructor to teach undergraduate courses in child and adolescent development, as well as related psychology subjects, beginning August 2026. The role includes both in‑person and potentially online or remote instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Teach applied child development, applied adolescent development, psychology of child development, psychology of adolescence, and life‑span development courses.
• Deliver scheduled classes in the assigned modality (in‑person, online, or hybrid) and arrange coverage for unavoidable absences.
• Provide each student with a written course plan outlining grading criteria and evaluation methods.
• Maintain accurate attendance, withdrawal, and grading records; submit required reports on time.
• Assess student performance, comply with institutional policies, and participate in college service and departmental recruitment efforts.
• Complete advisor training and serve as academic advisor to psychology students.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education and/or Psychology (or equivalent).
• Teaching experience spanning Pre‑K through Grade 12.
• Ability and willingness to teach introductory and upper‑level undergraduate courses.
• Commitment to applied learning, innovative teaching, and mentoring undergraduate students.
• Sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, gender, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

Required skills

• Experience with Brightspace or a comparable learning management system.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term appointment beginning August 2026.
• Annual salary range of $51,000 – $60,000, commensurate with education, training, and experience.
