About the role
The University of Miami invites applications for multiple tenure‑track or tenured faculty positions in Aerosol Science and Technology. Appointments may be made in the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering or the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, with possible joint appointments across other units.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in aerosol science, atmospheric science, and related engineering topics.
- Develop and lead an independent research program focused on aerosol instrumentation, nanomaterial synthesis, air quality, clean energy, or related areas.
- Secure external research funding and manage research grants.
- Supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral scholars, and undergraduate researchers.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the College of Engineering and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences.
- Contribute to departmental leadership and service activities.
Required profile
- Earned Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Demonstrated record of high‑quality research and publications in aerosol science or related fields.
- Ability to teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Interest in research that aligns with energy, environmental, and advanced materials priorities.
Required skills
- Aerosol instrumentation and measurement techniques.
- Nanomaterial synthesis and characterization.
- Atmospheric science methods and data analysis.
- Air quality monitoring and analysis.
- Combustion research and modeling.
- Satellite remote sensing and distributed sensing technologies.
- Interdisciplinary research collaboration.
