Temporary R&D Software Engineer

About the role

The Kostas Research Institute at Northeastern University is seeking a part‑time, temporary R&D Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. You will contribute to cutting‑edge projects in machine learning, artificial intelligence, autonomy, sensing and communication.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and test software packages for ML/AI projects, including autonomous systems and robotics prototypes.
• Collaborate with academic and industry partners across the KRI consortium to create practical, state‑of‑the‑art solutions.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or holding a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Self‑motivated, able to work in a small team, and eager to learn emerging technologies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, C++, Java and object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, SciPy, NumPy and high‑performance computing environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub.
