Telephony/VOIP Engineer – Remote

About the role

Retell AI is looking for a Telephony/VOIP Engineer to own the technical success of its telephony integrations and serve as the first line of defense for enterprise telephony support. You will work directly with customers to ensure high‑quality, reliable AI‑driven voice interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex SIP integrations with CCaaS/CPaaS platforms such as NiCE, Five9, Avaya, Genesys, Amazon Connect, Twilio, and Telnyx.
• Investigate and debug call failures using PCAP analysis, SIP traces, and carrier logs to improve reliability.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for enterprise clients post‑onboarding.
• Translate customer feedback into actionable product improvements for the development team.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a Telephony, VoIP, or low‑latency networking engineer.
• Deep understanding of SIP (RFC 3261) and RTP media debugging.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, firewalls).
• Experience with modern CPaaS/cloud communication platforms (e.g., Twilio, Plivo, Telnyx).
• Ability to write or modify basic scripts (Python, Bash, JavaScript) to automate troubleshooting.

What we offer

• Contract (1099) – Full‑time or part‑time
• Remote work with some overlap with Pacific Time team
• Compensation: $6,000–$7,500 USD per month, based on experience
