Technician Specialist – Sterile Compounding

About the role

This position is part of the inpatient pharmacy team at Ochsner Health, working directly with pharmacists to prepare and deliver sterile admixture products for adult and pediatric patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare sterile admixture products, including IV snap‑ons, large‑volume parenterals, syringes, chemotherapy, and bulk‑manufactured items using aseptic techniques.
• Operate and maintain specialized pharmacy equipment such as IV safety software and barcode systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, cleaning of the IV room, and ensure sterility protocols are followed.
• Assist pharmacists and other technicians to maintain an efficient medication distribution system.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of pharmacy technician experience.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the state Board of Pharmacy.
• ASHP Sterile Product Preparation Certificate within 90 days of hire (or 5 years IV production experience in lieu, with certification obtained within 90 days).
