Technical Sales Manager - Interconnects

About the role

Kyocera-AVX is looking for a Technical Sales Manager for its Interconnects business. The role develops new customers and products in the Connector division, covering commercial, industrial, medical and high-reliability components for electronic systems. It works closely with operations, development engineering and customers to turn connector and mechatronic application needs into design approvals and new business, and gives technical presentations and demonstrations to OEM customers, third-party sales reps and distributors.

Key responsibilities

• Meet or exceed sales goals and maximize gross margins
• Plan and organize a personal technical sales strategy for the territory
• Track, monitor and communicate the status of projects and design activities
• Build and strengthen long-term customer relationships
• Train sales representatives and distribution teams on products
• Keep up with the latest electronic components and connector technology
• Increase market share and look for new growth opportunities
• Work with account managers, distributors and OEMs to develop solutions
• Analyze customer application requirements and work with Development Engineering on feasibility
• Support product and program implementation plans and drive product application development

Required profile

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience (STEM preferred)
• Mechanical or electrical engineering background or aptitude
• 5 years of technical marketing or sales experience, preferably in electrical components, with knowledge of plastics, metals and plating materials
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills at channel and customer level
• Ability to work independently while following Sales Leadership's direction
• Travel 50%+ of the time within the Americas region; occasional international travel may be needed
• Experience in public speaking and sales presentations
