Teacher Assistant – Physical Education

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks a Teacher Assistant for Physical Education to support classroom instruction and student development in Wilmington, NC. This 10‑month, full‑time position reports to the Headmaster and follows the school academic calendar.

Key responsibilities

• Teach resource classes such as PE, assist with morning drop‑off and afternoon pickup, and monitor student behavior during recess and assemblies.
• Support the Content Teacher by grading papers, recording grades, preparing classroom materials, and supervising students during drills and emergencies.
• Handle administrative tasks including processing lunch money, field‑trip paperwork, school pictures, immunization forms, and maintaining classroom cleanliness.
• Communicate with parents as needed and assist students with classwork and social development.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or at least two years of college credits, preferably in education or early childhood development.
• Ability to maintain a clean, orderly environment and perform clerical duties.
• Strong organizational skills and the capacity to follow oral and written directions.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with common office machines and record‑keeping.
• Ability to operate standard classroom equipment and assist with technology as needed.
