Part‑Time Substitute Teacher (K‑8)

About the role

Classical Charter Schools of Wilmington is seeking enthusiastic part‑time Substitute Teachers to support K‑8 classrooms. You will assist lead teachers, maintain classroom order, and help students achieve academic and social goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with morning drop‑off, afternoon pick‑up, and daily classroom routines.
• Monitor student behavior on the playground, during recess, assemblies, and drills (fire, tornado, lockdown).
• Support students with classwork, encourage prompt homework submission, and reward positive behavior.
• Grade papers, record grades, and handle hot‑lunch money and field‑trip paperwork as directed.
• Transport students to resources (art, PE, music, computer lab) and ensure classroom cleanliness.
• Communicate with parents about injuries or behavior incidents and accompany students to the office when needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree or higher in education preferred.
• Ability to maintain a clean, orderly environment and perform clerical duties.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 20 lb and follow oral/written directions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.

Required skills

• Operate common office machines (copy, printer, scanner).
• Maintain basic files and records.
• Perform basic clerical tasks such as copying and paperwork processing.
