Teacher Assistant for K‑8 Classroom

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support K‑8 classrooms at Classical Charter Schools of Southport. This full‑time, 10‑month position follows the academic calendar and reports to the Headmaster.

Key responsibilities

• Teach resource classes such as art, PE, music, or computer lab.
• Assist with morning drop‑off, afternoon pickup, and daily classroom routines.
• Monitor student behavior on the playground, during recess, assemblies, and drills.
• Grade papers, record grades, and help students with classwork assignments.
• Process hot‑lunch money, field‑trip paperwork, and other administrative tasks.
• Communicate with parents, escort students to the office when ill, and support health‑related procedures.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness, manage supplies, and share duties like vacuuming and trash removal.
• Substitute in other classrooms as needed and attend required training.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or at least two years of college credits; education focus preferred.
• Ability to maintain a clean, orderly environment and perform clerical duties.
• Proficiency with common office machines and basic record‑keeping.
• Strong ability to follow oral and written directions and work well with staff.
