About the role
The Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant supports classroom teachers of students with disabilities, helping deliver quality instruction and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist teachers with academic tasks, student behavior management, and lead small group activities.
- Perform clerical duties, maintain records, and handle equipment repair/maintenance.
- Monitor student safety, well‑being, and self‑esteem; provide one‑on‑one assistance and modify instructional materials.
- Maintain crisis intervention certification and follow emergency procedures.
- Support basic personal care needs such as feeding and toileting when required.
Required profile
- Associate’s degree in any field; focus in education or early childhood development preferred.
- Ability to lift/carry 20 lb and perform physical tasks.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining clean environments and accurate records.
- Effective communication skills to follow oral and written directions.
