About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks a dedicated 4th Grade Teacher for Classical Charter Schools of Whiteville, serving K-8 students in Whiteville, NC. The role involves delivering a Direct Instruction curriculum focused on reading, writing, math, science, music, and art.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons using the school’s Direct Instruction curriculum, maintaining punctuality and classroom order.
• Assess student work honestly, provide timely feedback, and enter progress data promptly.
• Collaborate with Academic Coaches, Lead Teacher, and support staff for instructional guidance and professional development.
• Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and involve them when appropriate.
• Supervise teacher assistants and perform administrative duties such as monitoring transitions and supporting school policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate, or equivalent qualifications for lateral entry.
• Ability to manage a large, diverse classroom and remain on feet throughout the day.
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 20 lbs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Direct Instruction teaching methods.
• Classroom management and behavior instruction techniques.
