Tax Technology Manager - State and Local Tax

About the role

Riveron’s Tax Advisory practice is seeking a Tax Technology Manager to help clients navigate complex state and local tax challenges. You will lead the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of tax technology solutions, including AI‑enabled tools, while advising on sales and use tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide indirect tax planning and consulting for multi‑state and multinational clients.
• Research and draft technical memoranda on sales and use tax consequences of business transactions.
• Lead implementations of sales and use tax automation solutions and support ERP integrations.
• Collaborate with clients to improve tax processes through automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
• Evaluate emerging tax technologies and AI‑enabled solutions to enhance service offerings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Taxation with 5+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax technology, or sales tax automation consulting.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple engagements, and deliver high‑quality client service.
• Willingness to travel as required to meet client and business needs.

Required skills

• Experience with enterprise tax technology platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE.
• ERP integration experience with NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with emerging tax technology platforms (e.g., Anrok, Numeral, Stripe Tax).
• Knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax concepts, including nexus, taxability, exemption management, compliance, and audit support.
