About the role
Miter is looking for a Tax Operations Specialist to become the internal payroll tax expert for its fast‑growing construction‑software platform. You will help customers navigate complex tax situations, ensuring accurate filings and building trust in Miter’s payroll solution.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the go‑to tax authority on federal, state, and local filing rules, staying current with Check policy updates and agency nuances.
- Own reactive tax support tickets, including tax notices, blocked filings, W‑2/year‑end issues, balancing/debit queries, and general tax‑setup questions.
- Conduct proactive tax‑setup reviews for high‑risk customers, auditing benefit designs, payroll histories, agency IDs, filing frequencies, and rates to prevent year‑end or ownership‑change problems.
- Create and maintain playbooks, enablement documentation, and training materials for Sales, Launch, and Support teams to standardize tax issue handling.
Required profile
- 3+ years (mid) or 5+ years (senior) of payroll tax experience at a payroll provider, SaaS payroll platform, or PEO.
- Hands‑on knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
