Tax Consultant II – Indirect Transaction Tax

About the role

Deloitte is seeking a Tax Consultant II to join its Indirect Tax team. You will work on state and local indirect tax projects, providing planning, consulting, and compliance services for a diverse client base across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Research state and local indirect tax legislation and draft client responses and memoranda.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and streamline workflow.
• Support consulting engagements such as sales & use tax overpayment reviews, excise tax reviews, audit defense, nexus planning, and voluntary disclosures.
• Manage engagement workflow and supervise tax consultants and interns.
• Prepare client billings, account reconciliations, and draft proposals for new and existing clients.
• Coordinate with Deloitte’s in‑house tax preparation team and client tax departments.
• Perform detailed technical reviews of state and local indirect tax returns on selected engagements.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a hybrid model, co‑locating 2‑3 days per week onsite.
• At least 1 year of experience in state and local indirect tax (sales & use and excise tax).
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
