Senior Manager, Sponsored Programs

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Medicine seeks a full‑time Senior Manager to lead a large, complex portfolio of grants, contracts and clinical‑trial research. You will oversee more than 150 active researchers and manage roughly $44 million in annual sponsored expenditures.

Key responsibilities

• Direct pre‑award and post‑award activities for 20+ cost centers, ensuring compliance with federal Uniform Guidance and sponsor terms.
• Develop sophisticated fiscal forecasts and present data‑driven reports to Division Chiefs and Principal Investigators.
• Lead audit readiness, manage internal and external audit processes, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Oversee award closeout, final financial reporting, and resolution of sub‑recipient monitoring issues.
• Coordinate complex prior‑approval requests such as no‑cost extensions, rebudgeting, and scope changes.
• Mentor and supervise sponsored programs staff, providing performance feedback and training on internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in research administration, grant management, or related financial oversight.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles, with ability to set departmental goals aligned to strategic plans.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams while ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
