Tax Advisor – Trusts & Estates Specialist

About the role

We are an established trusts and estates boutique law firm seeking a full‑time tax professional to prepare complex individual, partnership, corporation and trust tax returns. The role demands solid knowledge of tax laws, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while complying with firm standards and procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organized individual who enjoys interacting with a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual, partnership, corporation and fiduciary income tax returns for review.
• Identify and execute tax planning opportunities to maximize clients’ net financial worth.
• Support clients in dealings with the Internal Revenue Service and other taxing authorities.
• Respond to IRS and North Carolina notices as they arise.
• Prepare and e‑file W‑2s, 1099‑MISC, 1099‑NEC, and 1099‑INT forms.
• Assist and provide support to the Tax Department as needed.
• Log and maintain tax return information.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of tax compliance experience.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent candidate required.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of federal and state tax compliance.
• Ability to perform complex tax research and analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with ProSystem fx Suite (a plus).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently and meet deadlines efficiently.
