Tax Accountant

About the role

The firm is seeking a Tax Accountant to join its CPA practice in Winston Salem. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, handling corporate tax compliance, and supporting clients with tax planning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages for clients.
• Post adjusting journal entries in Accounting CS or QuickBooks and organize tax files.
• Gather and verify client documentation, coordinate with clients or staff to obtain missing information.
• Calculate book‑vs‑tax differences, estimate quarterly taxes and prepare tax projections.
• Maintain fixed‑asset listings and prepare Federal and State corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns.
• Identify tax‑saving opportunities and respond to client, IRS, and state tax authority inquiries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA preferred with 3‑5 years of industry or public‑accounting experience.
• At least 2 years of financial‑statement reporting and corporate tax preparation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and confidentiality skills.
• Detail‑oriented with ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
• Thomson Reuters Accounting CS, Fixed Assets CS, UltraTax CS (preferred).
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
