Systems Administrator / Senior Systems Administrator

About the role

The Systems Administrator (or Senior Systems Administrator, based on experience) will support ACES' corporate IT infrastructure across locations in Carmel, IN and Raleigh, NC. The role involves installing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting client and server hardware, operating systems, and application software.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain VMware infrastructure, ESXi hosts, and PPDM backup solutions.
• Provide second‑tier troubleshooting for customer issues involving infrastructure, third‑party software, and internally developed applications.
• Install and configure new server hardware, software, and peripherals.
• Support server operating systems (Windows, Linux, VMware) and applications such as Office 365 Exchange, SQL Server, and ActiveBatch.
• Apply system security patches and configurations to meet corporate security goals.
• Participate in policy development, hardware/software recommendations, and business continuity planning.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call support on a rotating basis.
• Travel as required and comply with ACES regulatory requirements (NERC, FERC, SOC 1, ISSP, NERC CIP).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of infrastructure experience for a Systems Administrator role or 7 years for a Senior role.
• Hands‑on experience with VMware technologies, ESXi, and Pure Storage arrays.
