Systems Administrator – Government

About the role

AT&T Global Public Sector is seeking a Systems Administrator to manage day‑to‑day IT systems for a customized network solution supporting Federal Government operations. The role is onsite in Columbia, MD, requiring full‑time office presence.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Linux and/or Windows servers, ensuring availability, backup/restore, configuration changes, and patching of physical and virtual systems.
• Support and manage VMware environments, virtual machines, and storage solutions such as NAS and SAN.
• Install and configure workstations, servers, printers, and voice/video network components.
• Maintain software releases and ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Provide technical support across development, test, and production environments and respond to system alerts.
• Perform capacity planning, system tuning, problem analysis, and hardware/software upgrades.
• Develop administrative policies, documentation, and procedures for asset management.
• Conduct testing, establish acceptance criteria for new hardware/software, and create system administration guidelines.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Systems Administrator on comparable government contracts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
