Systems Administrator – Federal Defense

About the role

Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for a Systems Administrator to join a technology‑driven program supporting a federal defense mission. Based onsite in Rome, New York, you will ensure secure, reliable operation of enterprise systems while contributing to infrastructure modernization.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux operating systems across the enterprise.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot availability and configuration issues.
• Implement and support core networking services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Manage virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Collaborate with technical teams to uphold security, stability, and efficiency.
• Provide system support both independently and within team environments.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional system administration experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Active Secret Clearance (DoD 8140 IAT Level II‑equivalent certification preferred).
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Windows operating system administration.

• Virtualization technologies: VMware, Hyper‑V.
