System Administrator III

About the role

The Systems Administrator III provides technical leadership for server and infrastructure projects at Texas A&M University‑Kingsville. Reporting to IT leadership, this senior professional ensures compliance with standards, oversees a support team, and drives large‑scale system implementations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain complex server environments, including performance tuning and log analysis.
• Lead security initiatives, develop disaster‑recovery plans, and coordinate system audits.
• Manage problem‑management processes, backup support, and Tier III network troubleshooting.
• Provide technical oversight for hardware/software procurement, integration testing, and large‑scale technology deployments.
• Collaborate with project leaders to define work plans, staffing needs, and infrastructure requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of relevant systems administration experience.
• Strong analytical, written communication, and organizational abilities.
