Switchboard Operator I, Spanish-Speaking

About the role

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a Spanish-speaking Switchboard Operator I to support Environmental Health Programs in the Springfield office. The position answers phones, maintains files and performs general clerical functions to support Health Protection Programs and operations. It is a full-time, salaried union position with anticipated hybrid availability of 1 to 5 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Answer phones and handle incoming calls.
• Maintain files and perform general clerical functions.
• Open, sort, date stamp and distribute all incoming mail.

Required profile

• Spanish-speaking bilingual skills are required.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor visas.
