SVP Transactional Risk (Representations and Warranties Insurance)

About the role

DUAL North America is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its Transactional Risk division, specializing in Representations and Warranties Insurance (RWI) for mergers and acquisitions. The role is full-time, hybrid in New York, reports to the Head of Transactional Risk and pays $250,000 to $350,000. You will shape the underwriting framework, manage submissions, lead underwriting transactions across sectors and support profitable portfolio growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage analysts and junior underwriters evaluating submissions for active private M&A transactions and preparing customized term sheets with proposed pricing and underwriting considerations.
• Deliver quotes to brokers on time according to deal timelines.
• Lead the underwriting process, review due diligence materials with buyer's counsel and negotiate policy terms, drafting exclusions where material gaps exist.
• Analyze target company materials including due diligence reports, confidential information memoranda and M&A agreement drafts to assess risk.
• Supervise and mentor junior underwriters and analysts, and train them to deliver high-quality products.
• Coordinate with deal counsel where appropriate and communicate questions and clarifications to brokers and their clients.
• Take responsibility for the team's overall performance in meeting its financial goals.
• Cultivate relationships with key brokers through regular communication, industry events and networking.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, business, law or a related field preferred.
• Background in M&A or corporate law, or in private equity, investment banking or financial advisory, or in insurance with exposure to private equity or financial transactions.
• 8-15 years of M&A or relevant underwriting experience.
• Professional certifications such as CPCU, AU or similar preferred.

Required skills

• In-depth understanding of technical underwriting principles and risk assessment.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage and build broker and client relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
