Senior Investment Banking Analyst

About the role

Howden Re is a global reinsurance broker and risk, capital and strategic advisor. It is looking for a Senior Investment Banking Analyst in New York to join its insurance investment banking team, supporting mergers and acquisitions, public and private capital offerings, insurance-linked securities (ILS) offerings and other financial advisory services. The role involves working on some of the biggest deals in insurance investment banking, interacting with clients early and travelling for the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare company valuations using discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, trading comparables and transaction comparables methods
• Prepare marketing documents and client presentations, and carry out research and analysis to support new business generation
• Take part in the origination and execution of M&A, equity, debt and ILS transactions, from the pitch phase through closing
• Build detailed financial models to evaluate performance under different operating scenarios and to analyse the impact of different capital structures and potential M&A transactions
• Prepare presentation materials for client meetings covering strategic alternatives, capital markets activity and general corporate finance

Required profile

• Prior investment banking experience
• Bachelor's degree required; coursework in finance, economics, mathematics or actuarial science is preferred
• Demonstrated academic achievement and leadership abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to handle time-sensitive work under pressure with tight deadlines
• Ready to assume a high level of responsibility and legally authorized to work in the United States

Required skills

• Excellent written and verbal skills, and strong mathematical, computer and PC skills
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint is a must

The expected base salary range is $105,000-$115,000, based on level and excluding discretionary bonus and benefits.
