Surgical Technologist – PRN

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System at Florida Weston Hospital is seeking a PRN Surgical Technologist to join its operating room team. This position provides hands‑on support during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and assisting surgeons and nurses throughout the peri‑operative phases.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, assemble and open sterile packs, and ensure proper instrument counts.
• Assist surgeons and assistants with retraction, suction, and instrument handling during procedures.
• Collect and label specimens, handle biohazard materials according to universal precautions, and ensure proper disposal.
• Communicate surgeon preferences, patient positioning, and intra‑operative information to the team.
• Maintain equipment and supply inventories, returning items to proper locations after use.

Required profile

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a military surgical technology program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS‑C or CST) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb unassisted and heavier items with assistance; capable of stooping, pushing, and pulling equipment.
• Strong knowledge of AORN peri‑operative guidelines and aseptic techniques.

Required skills

• Surgical Technologist certification (TS‑C or CST).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in sterile instrument setup and count documentation.
