Surgical Technologist – Cardiothoracic OR

About the role

The Cardiothoracic Operating Room team at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a Surgical Technologist to support complex cardiac surgeries during night shifts. You will work alongside surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers, contributing to high‑acuity procedures such as minimally invasive, off‑pump bypass, and robot‑assisted operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scrub duties, maintain a sterile field, and pass instruments during procedures.
• Assist with circulating functions under RN direction, including counting sponges and instruments.
• Prepare and set up sterile tables, supplies, drugs, and equipment.
• Collect, label, and hand over surgical specimens.
• Support sterilization processes after surgery and participate in intra‑operative time‑outs.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent certification (TS‑C, CST, military program, or LPN license).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work night shifts with on‑call availability and meet on‑site response time.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lb, and handle surgical equipment.

Required skills

• Scrub and circulating techniques in a cardiothoracic OR.
• Instrument handling, gowning, gloving, and draping.
• Specimen collection and labeling.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
