Supply Chain Technician – Specialty

About the role

The Supply Chain Technician – Specialty ensures that all medical‑surgical supplies, physician‑preference devices and equipment are available for scheduled and emergency procedures at Lehigh Valley Health Network. The role works closely with patient‑care coordinators, surgeons and interventional teams to maintain a zero‑defect supply environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑million‑dollar inventories of supplies, implants, bone and tissue products by ordering, receiving, stocking and tracking.
• Review surgical schedules in EPIC, coordinate with nursing management and secure required devices before case start time.
• Monitor inventory levels across multiple stocking locations, remove expired items, and handle consignment inventory documentation.
• Act as liaison between supply chain, value analysis, vendors, A/P, risk management and compliance.
• Maintain accurate implant lot numbers in Lawson/EPIC and use mobile technology for real‑time updates.
• Track product recall alerts and ensure chain‑of‑custody compliance for tissue and mesh products.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of supply‑chain, materials‑management or procurement experience in a healthcare setting.
• Physical ability to lift over 50 lb and perform frequent standing, walking, squatting and reaching tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Lawson ERP system.
• Experience using EPIC scheduling and information modules.
• Strong inventory control and medical‑device tracking capabilities.
• Knowledge of recall management and JCAHO tissue‑product requirements.
