Supplier Quality Engineer IV

About the role

The Supplier Quality Engineer IV will evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products, collaborate with New Product Development teams, and lead supplier audits to ensure quality and cost effectiveness. This role supports Applied Materials’ mission to advance semiconductor and display technologies worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products and recommend materials to Design Engineering for cost, lead‑time, and reliability improvements.
• Work with New Product Development teams to ensure engineering drawing requirements are clear and communicated effectively to suppliers.
• Participate in New Product Introduction teams, involving suppliers in specification development and promoting design for manufacturability.
• Lead the supplier selection process to build a competitive supply base in quality, cost, delivery, and technology.
• Conduct supplier technical audits, assess performance, drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, and train other supplier engineers.
• Lead quality problem resolution and incident management, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Assist in cost planning by monitoring key cost drivers and supply‑market trends.

Required profile

• Demonstrated depth of expertise in a specialized engineering discipline.
• Ability to interpret business challenges and recommend best practices for product, process, or service improvement.
• Experience leading functional teams or projects with moderate complexity.
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and identify innovative solutions.
• Impactful work that advances customer, operational, or project objectives.
• Excellent communication skills for negotiating and influencing stakeholders.
