Supervisor, Medical Technologists

About the role

The Supervisor, Medical Technologists leads a team of laboratory professionals in performing microbiological, molecular biological and immunological tests on patient specimens. This role ensures high‑quality results, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, train, evaluate and monitor performance of technologists conducting microbiology, molecular biology and immunology assays.
• Verify specimen identification, prepare specimens safely, and oversee quality‑control testing and instrument maintenance.
• Monitor staff productivity, attendance and scheduling; initiate performance‑management actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and university policies; conduct audits, proficiency testing and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with pathologists, medical directors and clinical teams on test interpretation and patient results.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.
• Current Florida Medical Technologist license and Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license.
• Previous supervisory or lead‑technologist experience preferred.
