Supervisor – Case Management

About the role

This position provides direct supervision to registered nurse case managers and social workers, ensuring delivery of high‑quality patient care and alignment with Ochsner’s mission. The supervisor leads a team, trains new staff, and oversees documentation and service provision.

Key responsibilities

• Guide daily operational performance of case management staff, including utilization review, intake, discharge planning, and patient care coordination.
• Use financial and performance data to align the team with organizational goals and manage budget trends.
• Serve as the primary contact for customer service issues and educate staff on patient‑experience best practices.
• Facilitate leadership meetings, oversee onboarding, and conduct annual performance evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related healthcare discipline (or Master’s in Social Work). Preferred: Master’s in Nursing or LCSW.
• Minimum 3 years of utilization or case‑management experience with a RN license or MSW; preferred 3 years of supervisory experience in a hospital setting.
• Current RN license in the state of practice or active MSW license.

Required skills

• Strong computer and data‑entry skills for retrieving and documenting patient information.
• Knowledge of the welfare system and ability to analyze financial statements and manage a budget.
• Effective verbal and written communication, conflict‑resolution, and problem‑solving abilities.
