Substance Use Disorder LVN

About the role

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide compassionate, high‑quality medical care to individuals with substance use disorders, including medication‑assisted treatment, acute care, and preventive services such as drug and alcohol screenings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care under physician supervision and document all contacts promptly.
• Oversee the Medication Assisted Treatment program and administer medications, wound care, and screenings.
• Collaborate with the Mental Health Department and act as a liaison for SUD and behavioral health.
• Perform vital sign checks, assess substance‑abuse health needs, and record findings in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Provide crisis intervention, de‑escalation, and infection‑control practices.
• Coordinate referrals with community organizations for housing, food security, and mental‑health services.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies for mobile operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Active, unrestricted California LVN license.
• 1–2 years nursing experience, preferably in community health, SUD, or underserved populations.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in challenging environments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Required skills

• Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Medication administration and wound care.
• Drug and alcohol screening (urine, breathalyzer).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR.
