Substance Use Disorder Intake Specialist

About the role

The Substance Use Disorder Intake Specialist at Clinica Romero oversees client entry into outpatient services for youth, adult, and prenatal programs across two sites. The role ensures all intake processes meet clinic, state, and county requirements while supporting recruitment and community outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full intake cycle, including screening calls, scheduling appointments, and following up on no‑shows.
• Interview clients and families to determine eligibility and develop comprehensive diagnostic assessments.
• Coordinate with QA staff, admin assistants, and SAPC to ensure timely billing and compliance.
• Provide orientation, develop treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group sessions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in SAGE and ensure all forms are completed and signed.
• Recruit new clients, engage community partners, and meet enrollment goals set by the Program Director.

Required profile

• Registered or certified Substance Abuse/Addiction Counselor (CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP) with completed internship.
• Spanish bilingual, valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.
• Experience in case management, group facilitation, and observed drug testing.
• Knowledge of DHCS certification, Drug Medi‑Cal requirements, and the 12 Core Functions of SUD treatment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency.
• Experience with SAGE software and SAGE training.
• ASAM training and familiarity with ASAM criteria.
