Student Services Counselor – Clinical Psychology (Non‑Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The University of California State University, Fresno seeks a dedicated Student Services Counselor to provide comprehensive mental‑health services to its diverse student body. This temporary, non‑tenure‑track faculty position focuses on assessment, therapy, and crisis support within the campus health center.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews, psychodiagnostic assessments, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide brief individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, as well as crisis intervention.
• Deliver psycho‑educational workshops and consult with faculty, staff, and university administrators.
• Supervise and mentor Psychological Services trainees in the intern training program.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental‑health and primary‑care providers.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a terminal degree such as MSW or MFT.
• Current California license to practice mental‑health services, or eligibility to obtain licensure within 24 months.
• Demonstrated experience with diverse, high‑risk student populations and ability to conduct brief therapy modalities.
• Strong knowledge of mental‑health laws, ethics, and best practices.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic charting/EHR systems.
• Competence in psychodiagnostic testing and assessment tools.
