Student Financial Aid Counselor II (Evergreen)

About the role

The Financial Counselor joins the CARE team at Prairie View A&M University to provide outreach, literacy, and counseling to students and parents about financial aid programs, eligibility, and financing options. This Evergreen position will be filled by multiple hires.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day case management, advisement, and counseling to students and parents on financial aid, affordability, and payment options.
• Coordinate FAFSA completion, document verification, and follow‑up activities for new students.
• Conduct outreach via phone, email, text, and events to assist students with bills, aid renewal, refunds, and financial literacy.
• Partner with academic advisors and CARE leadership to ensure students meet satisfactory academic progress requirements.
• Develop and deliver Financial Aid 101 workshops, financial literacy trainings, and non‑credit courses in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least one year of related experience in higher education, admissions, or financial aid case management.
• Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification rules, and university policies.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Experience using BANNER software and related modules.
• Familiarity with third‑party financial aid systems such as NSLDS, COD, CPS, and Awards Management/Blackbaud.
