Structural Design Engineer

About the role

The Structural Design Engineer will join LBYD’s civil and structural engineering team in Huntsville, Alabama. This entry‑level position works under senior engineers to perform design calculations, code interpretation, and support project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform structural design calculations and interpret building codes.
• Document project communications and assist BIM modelers in producing structural drawings.
• Participate in site visits, review contractor submittals and shop drawings, and respond to RFIs.
• Research governing criteria, codes, guides, and best practices for each project.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus (0‑2 years experience).
• Passed or preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Self‑motivated, critical thinker with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of Revit.
• Proficient use of engineering design software.
