Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Global Procurement

About the role

Gerdau's Global Procurement team is hiring a Strategic Sourcing Specialist in Midlothian, Texas. The role supports sourcing initiatives across 11 steel mills and nearly 100 recycling, downstream and manufacturing facilities, partnering with suppliers worldwide, supporting category strategies and analysing market trends to reduce costs while improving service, quality and supply reliability. It suits an early-career procurement professional.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic sourcing and category management initiatives
• Lead RFQs, RFPs and supplier bid processes
• Analyse supplier markets, pricing and industry trends
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Support supplier negotiations and contract management
• Maintain supplier, pricing and contract information in SAP
• Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement
• Prepare sourcing analyses, reports and presentations for leadership
• Promote sustainable and ethical sourcing practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field
• Up to 3 years of procurement, sourcing, supply chain or purchasing experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Preferred: manufacturing, industrial or engineering experience; SAP experience; exposure to strategic sourcing or supplier negotiations; reporting and analytics tools; CPSM, CSCP or CPMB certification
