Strategic Projects Lead – Recruiting
Anthropic · San Francisco
Job description
About the role
Anthropic is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead for Recruiting to own the most complex, cross‑functional initiatives that shape how the company hires as it scales. The role influences across all hiring teams, bringing structure, coordination and follow‑through without direct ownership of any single team.
Key responsibilities
- Define and ship ambiguous recruiting bets, creating repeatable programs after testing minimal viable versions.
- Own the operating rhythm for recruiting‑supporting teams, ensuring unified planning, review and decision‑making.
- Identify recurring friction points and redesign systems rather than fixing isolated cases.
- Design and drive adoption of company‑wide process changes that flow through recruiting.
- Serve as the DRI for headcount and workforce planning, including hiring pace and regional readiness.
- Set operating standards for interviewing, monitor lead times and interviewer load, and lead cross‑team diagnostics when standards slip.
- Translate analytics into SOPs and documentation that new leaders can follow independently.
- Keep stakeholders informed without becoming a bottleneck, leveraging deep knowledge of recruiting systems and data.
Required profile
- 8‑10+ years in program management, business operations, chief of staff or people/talent roles at fast‑growing companies.
- Hands‑on experience partnering with talent teams and deep understanding of day‑to‑day recruiting operations.
- Systems thinking ability to anticipate downstream effects and design cross‑team fixes.
- Track record of managing multiple complex workstreams and making hard prioritization decisions.
- Experience setting strategy and vision rather than merely executing plans.
- Proven ability to create structure and clarity in ambiguous environments.
- Background applying AI to real workflows, automating repetitive layers and delivering faster solutions.
- Comfort testing minimal versions of ideas, clearly defining scope and exclusions.
- Ability to lose a decision cleanly, disagree, commit and execute with credibility.
- Experience driving large process or policy changes end‑to‑end and ensuring lasting adoption.
