Store Manager in Training

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is looking for a Store Manager in Training at its Lynchburg, Virginia store. The person assists the store manager in sales, appearance and overall store operations, with the goal of receiving hands-on training for a management position in another store or a future location. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise professional (delivery and installer service specialists) and retail (parts and merchandising specialists) operations and team members.
• Work with the district manager and store manager on recruiting, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and discharging team members.
• Share information from weekly and monthly store manager meetings with team members, train new hires and handle performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations.
• Help with hiring by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling and taking part in interviews, and evaluate candidates.
• Support the store manager and assistant management team on safety compliance, training and reinforcement of safety expectations.
• Make sales calls, possibly on a weekly schedule, and support store operations as assigned.
• Maintain the delivery fleet and keep records for each vehicle, and keep the store neat, clean and organized.
• Learn the electronic scheduling, clocking and payroll entry functions.
• Learn to manage key components of gross profit, monitor customer returns for core and warranty abuse, review competitive price matches and price overrides, and review the team's productivity dashboard daily.
• Review the monthly P&L statement with the store manager and discuss opportunities.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Completion of the Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training and Manager Development Program.
• Ability to read and match numerical and alpha characters quickly and accurately.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment and systems.
• Desired: O'Reilly store or distribution center experience, completed O'Reilly management training, ASE certification, advanced computer skills, fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
