Store Manager in Training

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is hiring a Store Manager in Training at its Walnut Creek store. The person assists the store manager in sales, appearance and overall store operations while receiving hands-on training to prepare for a management position in another store or future location. The pay range is $16.00 to $24.50 per hour, with possible additional premiums.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise professional (delivery and installer service specialists) and retail (parts and merchandising specialists) operations and team members.
• Work with the district manager and store manager on recruiting, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and discharging team members.
• Share information from weekly and monthly store manager meetings with team members and train new hires.
• Handle performance evaluations and recommend pay increases.
• Support the store manager and assistant management team on safety compliance, training and fleet maintenance, including vehicle records.
• Make sales calls, possibly on a weekly schedule, and support store operations as assigned.
• Learn electronic scheduling, clocking and payroll entry.
• Monitor gross profit, customer returns, price matches and price overrides, and review team productivity and the monthly P&L with the store manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Ability to read and match numerical and alpha characters quickly and accurately.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment and systems.
• Completion of the Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training and Manager Development Program.
• Desired: O'Reilly store or distribution center experience, completed O'Reilly management training program, advanced computer skills and ASE certification.
