Store Manager in Training

About the role

O'Reilly Auto Parts is looking for a Store Manager in Training at its Charlottesville, Virginia store. The person assists the store manager in sales, appearance and overall store operations, with the goal of receiving hands-on training to prepare for a management position in another store or a future location.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise professional (delivery and installer service specialists) and retail (parts and merchandising specialists) operations and all team members assigned to the store or hub store.
• Work with the district manager and store manager on recruiting, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and discharging team members.
• Share information from weekly and monthly store manager meetings with team members, train new hires and handle performance evaluations and pay increase recommendations.
• Support the store manager and assistant management team on safety compliance, safety reinforcement and staff training.
• Make sales calls, possibly on a weekly schedule, and support store operations as assigned.
• Maintain the delivery fleet and keep records for each vehicle.
• Learn the electronic scheduling, clocking and payroll entry functions.
• Monitor customer returns for core and warranty abuse, review competitive price matches and price overrides, and review team productivity and KPIs daily.
• Review the monthly P&L with the store manager and discuss opportunities.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Completion of the Assistant Manager Certification, Sales Specialist Training and Manager Development Program.
• Ability to read and match numerical and alpha characters quickly and accurately.
• Knowledge of automotive parts, equipment and systems.

Required skills

• Desired: O'Reilly store or distribution center experience.
• Desired: completed O'Reilly management training program.
• Desired: advanced computer skills and ASE certification.
• Desired: fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
