Sterile Processing Technician – Full‑time Weekends

About the role

This full‑time position supports surgical teams by ensuring that all instruments and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use during weekend shifts. The role is critical to patient safety and operates on Jeff. Hwy. in New Orleans.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, clean, disinfect, inspect, package, and store reusable medical instruments and equipment.
• Perform high‑level disinfection, pre‑vacuum, gravity‑displacement, and hydrogen‑peroxide plasma sterilization according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Provide necessary supplies for surgical procedures and support operative suites.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 2 years of sterile processing experience or completion of an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology program.
• Certification preferred (CRCST, IAHCSMM, CSPDT, CBSPD, CFER).
• Ability to work flexible weekend hours and travel between facilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with sterilization techniques (high‑level disinfection, pre‑vacuum, gravity‑displacement, hydrogen‑peroxide plasma).
• Instrument care and assembly knowledge.
• Computer and software proficiency for record‑keeping and web‑based applications.
