Steel Estimator / Business Development

About the role

A well‑established structural steel fabrication and erection company in Phoenix is creating a new Estimating & Client Development position to drive growth, strengthen client relationships, and build a stable project pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate structural and miscellaneous steel scopes, perform take‑offs, pricing, and prepare professional bid proposals (≈40%).
• Follow up on submitted bids, negotiate scope, pricing, and terms to close work (≈25%).
• Build and maintain relationships with contractors and clients; represent the company at meetings, site visits, and industry events (≈20%).
• Develop and manage a long‑term pipeline of project opportunities (≈15%).

Required profile

• 5+ years estimating structural or miscellaneous steel for commercial/industrial projects.
• Ability to manage multiple active estimates under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
• Proven ability to write clear, compelling proposals.
• Comfortable splitting time between office and field work in the Phoenix area.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Tekla or similar estimating software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
