State of Georgia Housekeeper (Entry Level)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to support the Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta. This entry‑level position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and infection‑controlled environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned patient and non‑patient areas.
• Collect and remove trash, following CDC safety protocols.
• Dispose of contaminated waste safely and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Strip and wax floors as required to maintain a hygienic surface.
• Ensure all cleaning activities meet ORS, JCAHO, and other agency standards.

Required profile

• Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to operate state‑owned vehicles.
• Ability to pass a national and state background check.
• Any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
