Staff Software Test Engineer

About the role

Beta Bionics is seeking an experienced Staff Software Test Engineer to join its San Diego app test team. You will shape the future of mobile applications and pump firmware for the iLet Bionic Pancreas, working in a regulated medical‑device environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for pump firmware, including automated and manual integration and system testing with mobile apps and cloud APIs.
• Enhance and optimize the automation framework, creating and executing automated tests using tools such as Appium, XCUITest, and UIAutomator.
• Document defects in detail, participate in dry runs and formal product runs, and maintain traceability from requirements and hazards to test cases.
• Collaborate closely with development, hardware, and cross‑functional teams, attend scrums and planning meetings, and ensure high‑quality software delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of firmware testing experience, preferably in medical devices, and 15+ years overall testing experience.
• Strong experience with integration and system testing between cloud services and mobile applications.
• Proven ability to work in an agile development environment and follow regulated documentation processes.
