Associate Principal Scientist, Immunology Discovery

About the role

The Associate Principal Scientist will lead immunology discovery projects from early research through to clinical candidate development, driving innovative strategies and cross‑functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute discovery strategies for multiple immunology programs, collaborating with Discovery Immunology, Biologics, Quantitative Biosciences and other functions.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to advance therapeutic candidates, ensuring timely milestone achievement.
• Present program updates and strategic recommendations to senior governance committees.
• Design, execute and interpret complex in‑vitro and ex‑vivo studies, while overseeing experiments performed by others.
• Identify and implement novel technologies to increase efficiency and drive program progression.
• Mentor junior scientists and promote a culture of scientific rigor and collaboration.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology or related biomedical science with 5+ years of drug discovery experience.
• Proven track record leading early‑to‑late stage discovery programs and cross‑functional teams in a matrixed environment.
• Strong knowledge of immune‑mediated diseases in gastroenterology, rheumatology or dermatology and relevant preclinical models.
• Excellent problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and communication skills.

Required skills

• Cell biology techniques: cell line culture, primary immune cell handling, multi‑color flow cytometry.
• Immunoassay platforms: ELISA, immunoassays.
• Molecular biology: RT‑PCR.
• Data analysis tools: Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo.
• Assay development and drug discovery processes.
